God made man in his own image?
It is said, by Christians and followers of related religions that God made man in his own image (Genesis 1:27). Now some of those people also think their deity leaves images of itself in various places. You may have heard of the Holy Grilled Cheese of Antioch, the madonna of the overpass, or maybe the Jesus of Arborea.
To non-believers, these images are a psycological effect known as pareidolia - the seeing of some random stimulus as something recognizable. Pareidolia causes thousands of people to believe they are seeing images of their almighty deity in clouds, toast, water stains, tree bark, and so forth. These people will pray to such images, make pilgrimmages to them, lay wreaths, and so forth, wasting their time and money in the hope of currying divine favour.
And without a doubt, this is the most hilarious pareidolia I have ever seen. If some God truly made man in his own image, then he's sending man a message with this: Jesus of the Dog's Arse.
As word of this spreads through the internet, how many canines are going to have their butts examined by well-meaning Christians seeking the enlightenment that comes from having Jesus manifesting himself on their dogs' arses? Truly it staggers the mind on so many levels.
Of course, perhaps it will give some priests something better to do...
Thanks to Bad Astronomy for pointing this one out to me.
